Eqvalan® Pasta is an antiparasitic based on 1.87% Ivermectin MERIAL.
Indications:
Indicated for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal and pulmonary roundworms in horses. Eqvalan® Pasta is highly effective against Large (Strongylus vulgaris, S. edentatus, S. equinus and Triodontophorus spp) and Small Strongyles, in the adult and immature stages.
It also controls the dangerous Parascaris equorum in the hepatic adult and migratory stages; the Stomach Worms (Habronema muscae, Drascia megastoma) in their gastric and cutaneous forms; Strongyloides westeri, even transmitted via colostrum/milk to foals; the subcutaneous worms (Onchocerca cervicallis); and gastric and oral myiasis caused by Gastrophilus spp.
Ivermectin acts especially on the Glutamic Acid controlled Chlorine channels and secondarily on those GABA controlled Chlorine channels (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid), causing an increase in the flow of these ions in the nerve synapses in round worms. Consequently, there is hyperpolarization of the nervous membranes, causing flaccid paralysis, death and elimination of the parasites.
Eqvalan® Pasta easily adheres to the oral mucosa of equines, providing good adherence of the product and preventing its fall to the ground when properly administered.
Dosage:
Eqvalan® Pasta must be administered exclusively orally, after the appropriate graduation of the dose according to the live weight of the animal to be treated. The dose adjustment must be carried out by fixing the plastic "washer" existing in the packaging plunger, fixing it by means of a slight turn over the mark of the animal's estimated weight.
Thus, the free end of the package is placed in the interdental space and the plunger pressed, depositing the product on the base of the animals' tongues. It must be observed the swallowing of the paste by the treated animal, in order to avoid waste.
The plunger of the Eqvalan® Pasta package is graduated at every 25 kg of live weight, with each package having enough product to treat up to 600 kg of live weight.
The recommended dosage of Eqvalan® Pasta is 200 µg per kg bodyweight.
Grace period:
Slaughter: horses intended for human consumption must not be slaughtered within 21 days after the last treatment.
