Niglumine is a non-steroidal and non-narcotic anti-inflammatory drug with angesic and antipyretic activity.
Formula
Each 100ml contains:
Flunixin meglunica ................................... 8.29g(*)
Vehicle q.s.p. ......................................... 100.0mL
(*) Equivalent to 5g of flunixin.
Indications
For cattle: In the treatment of acute inflammation associated with respiratory tract illnesses.
For horses: In the treatment of visceral pain associated with colic. In the treatment of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders.
Niglumine is recommended in those cases where corticosteroid therapy is contraindicated.
Dosage
 
Cattle: 2.2mg of flunixin/kg (equivalent to 0.044mL of NIGLUMINE/kg) intramuscularly or intravenously. Repeat if necessary, at 24-hour intervals, but for no more than 5 consecutive days.
Horses: In visceral pain associated with colic, it is recommended 1.1mg of flunixin/kg (equivalent to 0.022mL of NIGLUMINE/kg of body mass) intramuscularly or intravenously, at the onset of symptoms. Treatment may be repeated 1 or 2 times if symptoms reappear.
In inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders, 1.1mg of flunixin/kg (equivalent to 0.022mL of NIGLUMINE) is recommended, intramuscularly or intravenously, once a day for no more than 5 consecutive days.
Management
Niglumine should be administered to cattle and horses intramuscularly or intravenously.

Slaughter: Slaughter animals intended for human consumption only 7 days after the last application of this product.
Milk: Milk from treated animals can only be destined for human consumption 2 days after the last application of this product.
Horses
Slaughter: Do not administer meat intended for human consumption.
The use of the product under conditions different from those indicated in this package insert may cause the presence of residues above the approved limits, making the food of animal origin unfit for consumption.
Contraindications
Do not administer to animals under 3 days of age. Do not administer to horses with a history of hypersensitivity to flunixin.
Precautions
Do not exceed recommended serving. Do not mix other substances in the same syringe. Avoid intra-arterial injection in horses, as they react with ataxia, incoordination, hyperventilation, hysteria and muscle weakness. Care should be taken when administering to calves and, if symptoms of dehydration occur, fluid therapy treatment should be performed. Do not reuse during pregnancy.
Drug interactions
They are not known, so patients who require a combination therapy with other drugs must be monitored to detect possible interactions.
Warnings
Do not administer to racehorses for 8 days prior to competition. The cause of inflammation, pain, or colic must be determined and treated in parallel with appropriate therapy.
Restriction of use
Do not administer to horses whose meat is intended for human consumption.
Store in a dry and cool place, away from sunlight, out of reach of children and pets.
